CURTAIN WALL

155 Fanshawe Street

An impressive and imposing building in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, 155 Fanshawe Street is one of Wight Aluminium’s largest curtain wall and rooflight projects. The scope of delivery included design and technical detailing to bring to life the architectural intent in collaboration with Architectus and façade consultant Mott MacDonald, along with development of bespoke manufacturing and installation solutions for the integration of complex façade features.

155 Fanshawe Street combines extensive APL 168 curtain wall glazing with integrated Neolith sintered stone panels, projecting aluminium feature spandrels, a vast APL roof light, and horizontal shade fins on the north elevation. The precast panels were clad in a perforated aluminium screen with feature box louvers. Wight Aluminium led delivery of the complete façade solution, with the technical design and engineering of the complex façade panels, manufacture, pre-fabrication assembly of the panels and installation onsite.

The project required development of a bespoke manufacturing approach for complex corner joints on the overhanging edge of the neolith panels. In-house design development, prototyping, thorough testing and refinement delivered a sound manufacturing solution.

At street level, the building features channel glazed frameless glass and a revolving door to the main entrance and atrium. This is sheltered by an extensive canopy designed and installed by Wight Aluminium, using an APL roof bar system and digitally printed laminated glazing.

The building is six green-star rated, one of only three Auckland buildings to hold this top tier building performance score from the New Zealand Green Building Council.
